Did you know: Hanboks [hahn bok] are traditional Korean style clothing that are still widely worn today. They are normally worn on special occasions such as weddings, Korean Thanksgiving and Chinese New Year. They are also worn by the bride & groom in a traditional wedding ceremony. Another important occasion for Hanboks is milestone birthdays of parents or older relatives turning 60 or 70 years old and so on. More mature guests wear their hanboks out of respect. However, the children of the parents whose birthday is being celebrated have to wear them as well. For women, they come w/ traditional pointed shoes and a purse. Even Britney Spears wore one while touring in Korea out of respect for the culture. |
